:::PDF>TIFF ?:::

Something strange happen when i convert my .pdf file with the six A1 boards from the midterm review to six separeted .tiff files in order to send them to the epfl server:

The .pdf file size is 1.9Mo and the .tiff files are (11.4 + 12.6 + 1.4 + 2.2 + 11.6 + 5 = 44.2Mo!)

Are the .pdf working like .zip or what? The same thing seems to happen when i print the .pdf; The size are like growing in the printer!

Thanks to anyone helping me to result this stupid question!
(but, It is said that there's no stupid question at school)

Raph. a dit…

The reason is that pdf files keep vectors drawings and texts in typographies and the tiff file is just a picture saved as pixels like png or jpg. And for printing, the printer can't print vector he also have to convert pdfs in pixelised pictures to be able to print it.
